These house are just down the street from 301 N. Bewley, Santa Ana, California, my stomping grounds. |
One of my friends used to own a tv like this one. We had a Zeneth black and white until 1970. |
I used to work at Typewriter City which was located across the street from this. |
I often took this exit to go to a coffee shop after the races with Jim Suzuki. |
I used to ride my bicycle past this house on my way to school. |
When I was an MP at Fort Richardson, Alaska, I dreaded the cold. |
These roads could be slippery. I plowed into at least one car that was in front of me. |
In the 60's, this bridge was well played undered. We used to swim in the drainage after a rain. |
I regret that I didn't see more of Alaska when I was there. I should have made the best of it. |
Some of my friends did invite me along to their gold panning or long drives, but I stayed on post. |
Once, I got blinded by watching the sun on the snow too much. No one believed me. |
Keiko Ahner held an art exhibition just around the corner from this place, at Artist Village. |
This was before my time, but I can remember the look in the 1960's. |
I went to Santa Ana College in 1970-71. I was eventually drafted for the Vietnam war effort. |
My best memory of Santa Ana College was playing tennis with my cousin, Harris Kutsunai. |
There was a Mr. Creedon. He inspired me to study harder. |
I was never inside of this building. My class was cancelled because of some malfunction. |
Keiko and Mia traveled from here with train passes to Arizona and New Mexico. |
Once, Jim Savarino, his friend, and me took the train to San Diego, then Mexico. |
Pvt. Kasa, Stan and me (or is it, I?) drove the ALCAN, Alaska Canada Hwy. |
I used to take this exit to go to a disco and a movie. We heard that group that played "China Grove" |
A fellow squad member got me here. I was new at being an MP. |
My fellow squad members treated me fair enough after I first arrived at the 56th MP Company. Their names
have begun to fade. It was more a meaningless job than anything else. I should have gotten drunk with them a lot
more. Remember Steve Verzel? Chuck Slusher? SP5 Washington. SGT. Beavers. SSGT. Williams.
Captain? Lieutenent? Colonel Five? Yup, the names have faded.
I was once at Yurikago Houikuen, Nobeoka. |
Yurikago Houikuen was a flash in the pan. I didn't hang around there much at all.
There was a flood in Matsuyama Cho, Nobeoka. We were ok. |
I remember two floods in Matsuyama Cho, Nobeoka. We were lucky not to get flooded. The water's
edge was just down the road as I remember.
Patience: I never really got to know her, actually. |
Keiko remembers Patience, well. She was a gentle, large-sized dog. Maybe it originally belonged
to my brother. Anyway, it was just too much for my mother to feed and take care of properly. She was taken to
the dog-pound, I am sorry to say.
